When I was a primary school student, I never thought that I would like English so much. At that time, English for me was just a subject that I had to study at school. I couldn’t understand some of English grammar because I thought it was too difficult. Though I wasn’t interested in English then, I tried my best to learn it. So I could get good grades in English. I realized that, there might be many things we didn’t love to do in our lives. Of course we want to do what we like, but we also have to do something we don’t like. Maybe we can also do it very well as long as we don’t give up. Do I still think learning English is something I have to do? Of course, the answer is no. Nowadays, I am a 14-year-old girl who falls in love with English deeply and who is the best at English in the grade. I am going to tell you what made me become interested in English. When I was 12 year old, I got a chance to travel to Australia. It was something new for me because I had never been alone without my parents for nearly a half month. I lived in a foreigner’s house all day and experienced their everyday lives. I tried to communicate with them in English but I couldn’t do it well because my vocabulary was not very abundant at this moment. So I also took English lessons there. And I really felt it was fun to learn English. When I returned China, I decided to learn English much harder than before. After that, I did really hard in English. I watched an English competition on TV. The contestants were all the same ages as me. But they all spoke English very fluently and greatly. I was struck silent. This program encouraged me to learn English better. Little by little, the more I learn English, the more I enjoy it. And now, I do fall in love with it. English is full of my free time and I got so much fun from English. I read English articles very often because they are all very interesting and valuable. I listen to English songs and record my own English songs into the computer. I also chat with foreigners on the Internet and make friends with them. I don’t think learning English is a thing I don’t want to do anymore but what I really love to do. It is just because I make progress every day and never stop doing it. Learning English is just like what Lincoln says, don’t you think so, too? There are many people who love English as I do, but there are also many who don’t. However, if you make a decision to do one thing well, you should just try your best. Even if you do it very slowly, it doesn’t matter because you’re getting ahead. Our lives is also just like this.
